WEBSITE DEVELOPMENT STEPS TO FOLLOW

Welcome !!..Thanks for choosing NIC for developing and/or hosting your website.. will guide you through the entire process.

Step 1. :- Once you have decided to get your website designed, it is very important for you to be clear about the objective of your website as well as the content which would form the basis of it. With the broad ideas in place, sketch out a content structure of the website. You can take help from the contemporary websites presently on the Internet or even contact the concerned Officer from NIC , in order to refine the content structure.

Step 2 :- When the content structure is finalised after discussions with the concerned designers and approving authorities , begin the compilation of the content material (both text and visuals). The content material could be compiled from all official sources of information such as the organizations' Brochures, Pamphlets, Annual Reports, Newsletters etc.

Step 3:- Once you have collected the content from all possible sources, compile it in the form of a Script on the basis of the content structure and digitise the same as a Word Processed file (MS-Word file or similar formats). Also compile the visual material (relevant photographs, logo etc.). The photographs/logo have to be in a original bromide form or printed in colour on some glossy paper, in order to have a good output after scanning.

Step 4 :- Submit the material ( MS-Word file along with photographs etc.) to the NIC Officer associated with your Ministry/Department .

Step 5 :- The NIC Design Team would develop a prototype of the website and upload the same on a temporary server (the address shall be duly communicated to you) so that you can view the design from your office and give your suggestion/approval on the same. Once the prototype is approved, the development of the website shall begin.

Step 6 :- The time period required to complete the development of the website would depend upon the type and complexity of the website. After the website is developed, it shall again be loaded on to a temporary webserver so that the hyperlinks can be checked and the website can be tested on various browsers.

Step 7 :- While the website is being developed, you should fill up a website regsitration form through webcoordinators login indicating the final URL for your website. The process of registering your website with NIC's usually takes a minimum of 4-5 days.

Step 8 :- Once your website is launched on NIC's webserver, you are advised to keep it up-to-date in terms of content.
